Private browser-based PDF compression — and its honest limits
FreNiMi Tools rebuilds the PDF's internal object structure using shared, compressed object streams, entirely in browser memory. Nothing is sent to FreNiMi for processing, and no account is required — open your browser's Network tab before compressing and you'll see no PDF data leave the page.
This reduces overhead from a PDF's internal structure — page objects, fonts, form fields, and similar metadata. It does not re-encode or downsample embedded images, which is usually where most of a PDF's file size actually comes from. A document with many pages and little embedded media can shrink significantly; a PDF made mostly of high-resolution scanned images will see little to no change. The results panel always shows your file's real before-and-after size so you can judge for yourself rather than trust a marketing number. Is my PDF uploaded or stored?
No. Your browser reads and rebuilds the PDF locally, then downloads the result directly to your device.
Why didn't my file get much smaller?
If your PDF is mostly high-resolution images, that's expected — this tool optimizes internal document structure, not embedded image data.
Will compressing reduce quality?
No. This doesn't touch page content, text, or images — only how efficiently the PDF's internal objects are stored.
Does the output have a watermark?
No. FreNiMi does not add a logo, footer, or watermark to the downloaded PDF.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
No. An encrypted PDF's internal structure can't be read and rewritten without the password — remove the password first, then compress.
What should I do if my PDF is mostly scanned images?
Structural compression won't shrink embedded images much. Compressing the source images before they're placed in the document — or with an image compressor — addresses that weight directly.
