Private browser-based PDF comparison — and its honest limits
FreNiMi Tools extracts the text of each page from both PDFs locally and runs a word-level diff, entirely in browser memory. Nothing is sent to FreNiMi, and no account is required.
This compares text content, not visual layout — it won't detect a change in font, color, or image that doesn't change the underlying text. It's best for spotting wording changes, added or removed sentences, and edited clauses, not pixel-level formatting differences.
Supported files and limitations
- Standard, text-based PDFs of any size.
- Scanned image-only PDFs with no embedded text won't produce a meaningful comparison.
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported.
- Very large pages (thousands of words) fall back to a simple changed/unchanged indicator instead of a full word diff, to keep your browser responsive.

Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Both files are read and compared entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.
What if the two PDFs have a different number of pages?
Extra pages in either file are shown as entirely added or removed.
Does this compare images or just text?
Just text. Visual-only changes that don't alter the underlying text content won't be detected.
Can I compare scanned documents?
Only if they contain a real text layer. Purely image-based scans have no extractable text to compare.
